App terms of use
These terms cover the NOMAE app on iPhone, iPad and Android, NOMAE accounts and the app's social features. NOMAE is based in Brisbane, Australia. Questions: [email protected]. The tracker itself is sold under the terms of sale, and how we handle information is in the privacy policy.
The app is free to download and use; Coach is an optional subscription. If you downloaded it from the App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply; if they conflict with these terms on how the app is licensed to you, the store's terms apply.
Workout history and tracker movement data are kept on your device, not synced to a NOMAE account. Apple Health connection is optional and its readings stay on your iPhone. Account, social and optional AI features process other information as set out in the privacy policy.
Training and your health
NOMAE logs and measures training. Its plans, programs, records and coaching are general information, not medical, physiotherapy or personalised training advice, and the app is not a medical device. If you have an injury, a health condition or are pregnant, or are new to training, check with a doctor or physiotherapist before you start. Use weights you can control, follow your gym's instructions and rules for its equipment, and stop if something hurts or feels wrong.
Rep counts and measurements
Rep counts, travel, time under load, estimated one-rep maxes and other figures are estimates from the tracker's motion sensor and your entries. They can be wrong, particularly on assisted machines or when a set has no clear rest. Check them, and correct a set when it is wrong. Don't rely on them for safety decisions.
Using the tracker
Put the tracker only where the app's setup shows: on flat steel that moves with the weight, clear of guide rods, cables, pulleys and the gap between plates. Check it is firm before every set, and take it off if it shifts. Ask your gym if you're not sure it's allowed on their equipment. Keep it and its magnet away from pacemakers and other implanted medical devices, cards and small children.
The voice coach
The voice coach only plays through headphones. Keep the volume at a level where you can still hear what's happening around you.
Coach
Coach, the companion's chat, is written by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, and is only sent what you allow on the in-app sharing screen (see the privacy policy). It offers general training suggestions, is not medical advice, requires sign-in and internet, and may be unavailable or give incorrect answers. It can propose interactive charts and workout plans. Creating a routine or replacing your unstarted next workout requires your confirmation in the app; recorded workout results are not changed by AI. Important training preferences can be remembered locally and edited or deleted in Settings. Check suggestions against your actual training and equipment. Processing, automatic training context and local memory are explained in the privacy policy.
Coach subscription
Coach is an optional auto-renewing subscription sold in the app via Apple. In Australia, Monthly is A$4.99 and Yearly is A$49.99, with a one-week free trial for new subscribers. After the free trial, your chosen subscription renews at its listed price unless cancelled.
Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. Manage or cancel it in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Payment and refunds are handled by Apple.
Coach has a fair-use weekly limit that resets on Mondays.
A new NOMAE tracker includes a one-time 3-month Coach trial, once per tracker and once per account.
Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement (EULA) also applies.
Accounts
You don't need an account to train. To use social features or Coach, sign in with Apple or Google. Keep your sign-in secure and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
Community rules
Social features (usernames, display names, friends, crews, cheers and check-ins) are subject to these community rules. When you use them, you agree that you won't:
- use a name, username or crew name that is offensive, sexual, hateful, threatening or discriminatory;
- harass, bully, threaten or impersonate anyone, or pretend to be NOMAE;
- spam, advertise or send people elsewhere for commercial purposes;
- share someone else's personal information; or
- break the law or help someone else do it.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You can report a person or a crew, and block a person, from the app. The NOMAE team actions reports within 24 hours. We may remove names or crews, and suspend or close accounts, that break these rules. If you think we got it wrong, email [email protected].
Check-ins are self-reported and are not a verified record of anyone's training.
Your content and feedback
Your workout history stays yours and is stored on your phone; summaries are shared for AI only when you opt in. You give NOMAE permission to store and show your username, display name, companion's look, trained days and crew content to the people you share them with, only to run the social features. If you send feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve NOMAE without owing you anything for them.
The app itself
NOMAE gives you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the app. Don't copy, resell or misuse it, interfere with NOMAE's servers or other people's use of them, or try to get at accounts or data that aren't yours. Third-party software in the app is listed, with its licences, under Settings → Licences.
Changes and availability
We improve the app over time, and features may change. We aim to keep the service available but can't promise it will always be uninterrupted. If we make a material change to these terms, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect; if you don't agree, you can stop using the app and delete your account.
Your rights and our responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't lawfully be excluded. Subject to those rights, NOMAE isn't responsible for loss that wasn't reasonably foreseeable, or that was caused by using the app or the tracker against these terms or the setup instructions.
Law
Queensland and Australian law apply, subject to mandatory protections where you live.
